Bound in Madness

A night of twisted whimsy!

This event was dramatically moody and twisted. With touches of red, white, and black throughout the venue, our event truly brought these books to life.

The Book: Heartless by Marissa Meyer & Alice by Christina Henry were both well-loved amongst members. Heartless was compelling, adventurous, and emotional. The characters are easy to fall in love with, and the world itself is very charming, whimsical, and classic Wonderland. 

Alice took the retelling to a horror level, and was a heavy, twisted retelling on a classic, well-known tale. With very dark themes like cannibalism, human trafficking, and SA, this book was an inspiring story of love in the darkest of places, and light at the end of that darkness. 

The Curations: Fully immersive decor & photo ops, including a wall of giant playing cards, giant papier-mâché & hand-painted mushrooms, mad tea inspired centerpieces, and touches of checkers. We leaned into the red, black, and white vibe that was prominent in Heartless. We also served miniature meat pies & cucumber sandwiches (Alice), lemon tart cupcakes & pastries (Heartless), and the classic "Drink Me" potion to wash it all down.

The Moments: Our Crafts & Chaos segment was a hit! Everyone created e-reader inserts and bookmarks.
